A Pleasant Surprise

28 10 2007

Mystery Topic ChallengeDespite my brash show of arrogance I didn’t truly believe I would win the last Mystery Topic Challenge. In all honesty I thought my earlier two entries were much better than that one. There is no doubt in my mind that my initial word would not have made a winning post so that leaves me to conclude that it was the rare insight into my psyche that people enjoyed. For that I really must thank Jayne for inspiring the rethink. Were it not for her frank posts about the bullying she suffered I doubt I would have opened up.

Thanks must also go to Some Go Softly for thinking up such a great topic. It got my juices flowing right from the get-go. Also I’d like to take this time to thank Romi for providing stiff competition (in the end I won only by one vote) and making it that much more thrilling. Last but not least I’d like to thank the readers who voted for me. The really satisfying part of winning is knowing people really enjoyed my post. There’d be no point blogging if people weren’t reading and enjoying it.

If you’ve not already taken part in the Mystery Topic Challenge signup for the next one.

My last word has to be to thank Jayne for a wonderful winner’s badge (I loved it so much I included it in the post) which couldn’t be more suited to me. Thank you!

Haha, that winning-badge is PERFECT for you!

Congrats on the win Mr. President; you should really embrace the victory, because you totally “went places” with your post, it was so “enrapturing”, if that’s a word šŸ˜‰ . And of course, it was so well-written, as I’ve come to expect from you šŸ™‚

Mr President

Thank you. I did think it was quite well written, it just came as a surprise that it was as popular as it was. It lacked the usual humour or topical interest, but instead replaced it with a bit more “heart”. I suppose that’s the point though, I “went places”, deep dark places, and sometimes that view of a person can intrigue people. Yours, however, was a riot, and I fully thought you’d win.

I think you were both brilliant and loved both posts. I did have to vote for you, Mr. President, because I know it’s hard to reveal the “Dark Side” when you work so hard to protect it. May the Force be with you!

Congrats! (and that’s one sweet badge!)

Thanks to Mr. President and Jayne on the compliments šŸ™‚ …a worthy jedi opponent you are (and yes, obviously I’m on the “Sith” side of things…wow, am I really this much of a nerd?…)

Mr President

I couldn’t agree more Jayne, both entries really were at a high standard.

Isn’t it just the sweetest thing leaf? Romi’s right, it’s PERFECT for me.

Yes Romi, you really are that much of a nerd. It’s ok, at least you chose the right side of things (I’ve always thought the Siths were cooler than the Jedis).

Congrats on the victory Mr. President. Now you can add one more trophy to what is surely an impressive collection.

Voters? You mean people you bribed, don’t you? I demand a recount! Just kidding! Great job! šŸ™‚

Mr President

No, I bribed the relatives. You can’t bribe dead people.
