Finally A Good Final

24 09 2007

The ICC World Twenty20 has been a bit of a revelation. I’ve been quite public in my dislike for this format of the game, but this tournament’s won me over. Even the final was a fantastic spectacle between the old arch rivals, it swung one way then the other, and finally India won by just five runs with three balls to spare.

In a format where matches seem decided by the finest of margins the final shot by Misbah could very easily have gone for the winning six runs. It was a bit of a silly shot, perhaps, with four balls remaining to get six runs, especially with the way Misbah was striking the ball and how expensive Sharma had been. Talking of people called Sharma, how indebted will India be to Rohit Sharma’s 30 runs?
